Best Heart Rate Monitors for Display

i was bummed when i got it home and discovered that the heart rate monitor display did not work when i held the hand grip sensors.

the monitor has a heart in the upper right corner of the display that seems to flash when it's receiving a reading, if it stops flashing that that seems to indicate that the watch is no longer

the ability to easily attach the display to the rowing machine, alongside its built in computer, is great as it makes it much easier to monitor than it would be on my wrist.

it rather quickly picks up my heart rate and displays it on an easy-to-read wrist band.

i put the monitor on the stand (like a watch display in a store showcase), and now i don't have to take my hand off the elliptical to check heart rate.

i got my arm under a stream of water while washing dishes and the screen clouded up (cleared up later but now i'm more careful).

to train properly, you just need a reliable heart rate monitor, a good display of split times and hr, and readable after workout statistics (lap times, split times, hr per lap).

the heart rate monitor will be picked up on the machines at the gym also displaying it there.

harder to do if it is dark and you cannot read the screen.

it's actually simple to get into settings mode (starting from the time-of-day display):

my only beef is that the lcd sometimes shows the numbers (calories in summary section) in such a way that you can't read the first digit.

if you are running at a moderate/fast pace on a treadmill it has a hard time picking up a signal and sometimes it displays nothing, sometimes the reading is unreasonably low (i.e.

you have to push down on the two silver buttons above and below the screen with your index and middle fingers to get a heart rate reading.

also displayed is the percentage of your target heart rate that number represents.

the only question i have about the watch is if the calories burned section/screen has a decimal in the readout.
