the other nit i would pick is the "microphonic effect": sound transmitted mechanically through the cord as it rubs on clothing or whatever.

as long as i'm sitting forward so the cord doesn't touch anything, things are great, but if i lean back and the cord drapes across my shirt, the crunching grinding muttering of the cord transmits

not true, what happens is that you can seal these so well in your ear that noise can be transmitted through the friction on the wires.
