Best Headphones for Train

my ipod music/movies sound great and the noise reduction is perfect for air/train travel.

i mainly bought thes phones so that my daily morning commutes on the train would be a little quieter.

the noise cancelling works really well, almost all background noise is cut out, really good on the subway or on a train.

i take a commuter train every day and they make my trip very peaceful.

i ride the shoreline east commuter train in ct every workday 45 minutes each direction.

originally purchased for training tapes and cds, but also used when operating lawn equipment (rider mower, weed wacker, etc.) given how well they dampen the noise to a far more acceptable level.

just last night, i got home from a two-week trip to china, so i had quite the opportunity to use these recently-purchased headphones on two 14-15 hour plane rides, three shorter rides within china

has an audible hiss/hum in very quiet environments but this is not a problem at all in its "natural habitat" of planes, trains etc.

i have tested multiple noise cancelling units including sony mdr-nc50, mdr-nc-60, bose qc2/3, and sennheiser pcx300 to use on a train and flights.

i happened to fall asleep on nyc subway train while listening to the music (never happened to me before).

i play bass guitar and needed and need a set of headphones to use with my bass trainer when practicing at home..

cons: a few people in my neighborhood have been hit by trains while listening to music through noise canceling headphones.
