not really recommend if you want to walk around in public as the closed design does keep the majority of external sound out, plus you would look like a doofus.
they're great for my dorm room and i will take them on airplanes and to get pumped before my sporting events.
so the adjustment may be for the phones and maybe for the mp3 player either way 2db is perfect.
i mostly use them at my desk at work, listening to a very wide variety of mp3s.
i used these with my ipod and i am hearing all sorts of details in the soundfield that were not present with any of the other headphones or earbuds i have used with my ipod.
they dont work well with the iphone or the ipod touch because of how the headphone jack is made.
they aren't too tight and the materails aren't too "sweaty" which is nice.
getting to be 120 degrees out the headphones never really felt disgusting or sweat covered after use...i was a bit leery of using them here in al the heat and sand but they have held up like true
they get kind of sweaty if you wear them in the gym...
i tweaked the bass on my mp3 player (creative zen) and that amped up the bass sufficiently.
