the nc feature renders music toward the treble end, so i prefer to use them without nc, but i'm sure it will be a life-saver on an airplane.

as for the the sound quality with an ipod (nano 3rd generation, nano 1st generation, touch 1st generation, video 5th generation are the ones i've tried it with) plugged in, i've had no issues.
