Let me start by saying that I have been on a very expensive quest this past year to locate in-ear headphones which met what I thought were fairly reasonable standards. After all every manufacturer out there has some sports figure on the packaging so how hard could it be right? I needed headphones which were durable, stayed put while: running, using the elliptical as well as laying flat while lifting weights and doing crunches.
My only issue is the cord? Its uneven and way too long , unless of course, you're 6'6" tall? Wish Sennheiser would shorten the cord and these would be perfect.
I got these earphones because I wanted a pair of good portable headphones that are also good for dancing/sport use. These are fabulous.
Pros: These ear buds are by far the best sounding I have tried.. Typical Sennheiser quality.. Cons: The only thing was the owners manual was in every other language except ENGLISH!!
I work out and run a lot; I went through a dozen of in-ear headphones from different vendors over the last few years. Most of them are like umbrellas - in average any model under $100 deteriorates in two to four months, so durability is my primary concern. Previous Sennheiser pair that I owned (not labeled water resistant) had great sound quality, but lasted only a month, so this CX380 looked like very promising improvement. I didn't even mind nasty orange cord as long as the thing was reliable.
Pros: Sennheiser: You know you are getting good quality audio; you don't have to go to headfi and do the research yourself. And the audio IS very good, especially for jogging headphones.
The cord has a nice rigid feel to it and enough durability so i can wrap around my mp3 player and throw it in my back pack. The soft ear buds are comfortable and snug so they hold well. The entire earbud itself is design to fit around the ear cartilage (but what else would you expect from sport headphones). The bass is quite good and beats are very clear when listening to rock music.
I had been using Sennheiser PMX70 for 2.5 years, but the connector broke so I had to buy new one. My common use for the headphones is running either in Gym or outside about 7 miles.
this review is based on my first use - i could wait after a few runs, but i guess i'm just excited to use them and i figured it wouldn't change with subsequent uses. i was originally considering the Sennheiser MX85 twist to fit, but saw these and decided to give it a shot. i have shure e3c, some cheapo sony in-ear, and they both slip everytime i run.
Finally! After trying numerous earphones and being majorly disappointed with all I tried I was about to give up my search until I randomly ran across these. I wasn't really wanting to spend this much on a pair of earphones, but decided to splurge a little since I had already spent a wad on a pair of Etymotic and returned them, plus I had always heard Sennheiser made super quality electronics. I heard correct!
