These take fewer batteries (2 vs 4) also. Don't know what that means in terms of how long they will last. Both the stock and the audiovox headphones come with auto power off. I didn't notice abig difference with ability to pick up the IR signal from the DVD player. from Circuitcity.com I bought these headphones to go with my Audiovox dvd player. I am now convinced that that review was fiction. The problem with these things is that "Thompson Consumer Electronics" or "RCA" or whoever manufactures these headphones has simply put a piece of JUNK out onto the market.
