Summary: i have a creative fatality pro series card. i am not a DJ so i do not know what is the standard of DJ. from Mwave.com Pros: Nice sound, comfortable and has low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). Creative even tosses in a felt baggie for them & adapter for plugging into a receiver. Cons: No complaints here. from Newegg.com Frankly, I found these headphones fairly lifeless, "muddy" in the mid range for pop/rock/classical music, vocals and video dialogue were indistinct, but otherwise full range yet giving a "compressed" [dull, dead] sound stage compared to my audiophile quality Sony Studio Monitor Series MDR-XD400 headphones which are superior to the Live!s in all respects. I recommend the Sonys without any reservations, as well as the more highly rated--yet less pricey than these Live!s--Audio Technica headphones, but I use headphones almost 24/7 so full range sound quality AND clarity is paramount to me. The CL Aurvana "DJ" headphones I tried were equal to the MDR-XD400s, but AT NEARLY 16oz, they were too heavy for me to wear for long periods and I returned them for that reason. from Amazon.com I have a 5YO pair of Radio Shack "Titanium" headphones bought for $24.95 still going strong, but way beyond average product life, and now discontinued (bad move on RS's part). The MAJOR DIFFERENCE between them and these DJs is the comfort issue; you KNOW you're wearing headphones as the pressure is evident (this may lessen over time OR with some headband tweaking), where the Titaniums are forgotten once placed on your head--both are light weight, but the RS headphones don't "squeeze" your head when wearing them. The SOUND QUALITY of the Titaniums is 20-20K Hrz and provides an "airy" or "spacial" sound stage, the DJs less "airy" and are either 1] flat across across the sonic spectrum OR 2] have mid-range boost/coloration giving me better voice clarity and an increased mid-range presence that I found I liked--all things considered--over the RS phones. from Amazon.com The strange thing is I really like these headphones. The design is good, the build quality is fair, and for DJ headphones they are fairly comfortable. You don't need these to listen to Timbaland, who sounds just as great on my cheaper Sennheisser HD 205's. They are worth sixty dollars or so. These are not high end head phones - they jack up the gain so you can use them with mp3 players and have a metallic kind of sound - but they are much better than you typically get for 40 dollar or so headphones.
