I was really glad to find this product sold as a standalone, so I could use my Etymotic in-ears or Bose noise-canceling headphones with the iPhone and clip it to my shirt when traveling, for easy access to the play/pause clicker which is really useful when walking through an airport, sitting on a plane, etc. Because of the cord length, I ended up using this more with my cheaper Sony earbuds that come with a short cord + an extension cord, so the first short cord segment alone works well when added to the Shure cord length. I didn't use the mic much but it did work. from Amazon.com This product pairs perfectly with the shure headphones, the button on the mic even pauses and unpauses my iPod touch. The Only minor concern I have is that the microphone naturally hangs pretty low, and you have to get it very close to your mouth and angled properly to be heard. from Amazon.com but it's [a jackson + hamilton.] anyway, it does also have the song pause/skip button, and the mic, both of which are hard to come by. and it does work. but my main beef: couple it with shure earphones, and the chimeric beast you've created is approximately 43 feet long. you could weave a few of these together and drag the ocean for fish. from Amazon.com First I was blown away by Shure's sound isolating headphones and they've done it again with this incredible headset.
