their playback is so accurate i'm wondering how much better my mp3 player will sound through a dedicated headphone amp.

i highly recommend it for your ipod.

the etymotic cables are very microphonic unless damped by running over the ear.i bought an 18 cent rubber o-ring from the hardware store (it is for a faucet) and wrapped the left and right earpiece

i work out of my house, and now i can't even hear the racket that my husband is making in the garage with all his power tools.

Lastly (and this relates to noise transmission due to physical contact with the wire), NEVER bike, motorcyle, drive, ski, run, walk, etc.

So despite the isolation, if the cords come in contact with say, you're moving body while walking, you will hear that sound through the cords unless your music is high enough.

And it could get very hot and sweaty in the summer with the pleather ear pads of HD280.

Also, BE CAREFUL of where you're walking/driving when wearing these.

If you hate the way lower quality earbuds fail to reproduce pounding base and sharp high frequencies, putting these on will be like walking out of the shade into the light.

However, I walk with my MP3 player as a part of my work commute requires doing so.

This is absolutely addictive for anyone who wants to listen to music in loud places--walking next to busy streets, riding on the bus, or working around loud machinery.

I've tried to treat them delicately, eliminating activities I use them with each time -- exercising, walking, resting in bed, on the airplane, etc.
