i do have several other computers and in one of my computers i have an ati 4850 and it is nice, but for the say steam games i play, this card is fine.
if your looking to upgrade a card on something newer go for it, if your trying to save your p4 system for gaming etc.
the card isn't top notch but i found it runs "oblivion" on full power and still testing.
i wasn't plan to buy it to play games, but was tempted to buy a good card.
after overclocking to what it can handle where your not pushing it too much, you might be able to push anti-alaising 2x with max settings but i still dont think you'll get smooth gameplay.i
i bought it so i could play some games and stuff now that i have a decent gaming pc.
silky smooth, max settings on wow, hl2, cod4, oblivion...
combined with the rest of my system i have been able to play almost all of my video games at full resolution and full or nearly-full graphics (native resolution of my monitor is 1920x1080).
i can play any game with visual settings maxed out, watch any video encoded in anyway with zero stutter.
i play city of heroes and eve online, and both games run without any problems.
this is a cheap affordable product that brings anything you need, i was skeptical about the card, but after installing looking at some hd videos and games i was blown away, this card is perfect if
in way is this a cutting edge card, but it will average 30 fps on most game on max settings.
well this card is a great deal, its not the best one out there but for the price and performance it is a very goood deal, gaming and lots more can be done with this evga
with this card, a core 2 duo wolfdale, and 2 gigs of ram i'm now playing wow with the graphics settings maxed at 1024x768 and it runs very smooth.
it plays all of my pc games with the settings maxed out.
cooling my room overall and turning up the fan speed to about 80-85 cooled it down sufficiently other thoughts: i fried my last card from too much games and putting it under a lot of stress.
or it'll freeze from heat.this thing is power hungry it needs lots of juice.i didn't really get to see the full potential of this video card until i upgraded to 8gigs of ram in a 64bit os, vista 64.
only that it can run any game with max settings!!!
i'll be playing graphic intensive games like crysis or even a low graphic game like counterstrike source for a couple of hours and ill see temps go to over 80 degrees.
at 1680x1050 this card runs every game at max settings including crysis warhead, gta4 and everything else and all games are playable.
this card is great it plays everything at max !i can crank up every game i have to high settings and it doesnt even flinch.
other thoughts: love this card, it runs games in ultra-high mode with no problem.
(this card can do this easily)i got a free copy of 3d mark vantage (when i regestered this card at evga)window vista x64 experience score 5.9 (does it get any higher?) cons: it wasn't a 2 for
i'm using this card with a 45nm quad and world in conflict, warhammer online, and a few more games run maxed out with almost no slow downs.
it is a big purchase, i used without problems as well-performance and excellent ability to process hd video games and movies.
it doesnt even slow down at higher resolutions on most games cons: none absolutely other thoughts: this thing eats alive any other graphics card on the market in all benchmarking scores
the card itself is used mostly for wow, gives 175 fps on max aa/af @ 1920x1200, i have it vsynced to 60 though to avoid tearing on my monitor.
i bought this card to play crysis and next generation games and i'm very happy with it.
i just used this card to replace a bfg 8800gtx oc2 in my gaming system (9650@4ghz, 8gb ram, etc...).
the 4870 is nothing more than a duel gpu card with the same problems sli and crossfire have.
