cooling my room overall and turning up the fan speed to about 80-85 cooled it down sufficiently other thoughts: i fried my last card from too much games and putting it under a lot of stress.
or it'll freeze from heat.this thing is power hungry it needs lots of juice.i didn't really get to see the full potential of this video card until i upgraded to 8gigs of ram in a 64bit os, vista 64.
only that it can run any game with max settings!!!
i'll be playing graphic intensive games like crysis or even a low graphic game like counterstrike source for a couple of hours and ill see temps go to over 80 degrees.
at 1680x1050 this card runs every game at max settings including crysis warhead, gta4 and everything else and all games are playable.
gotta wait till tuesday to play with it, but i need the boost in far cry 2, 9800 gx2 is a stinker with this game.
this thing in games gets pretty hot, but my case gives it it's own 120mm intake fan just to keep it cool, so it never goes above 62 degrees in some of the most difficult to run games (@1920x1200).
so many free games at the time it was almost free :-) other thoughts: picked this up to replace a gtx 285 sold to a friend.
i just got two of these bad boys to replace my 8800gt sli setup and let me just say wow what an improvement.
i ran 3dmark06 with the same cpu @ the same speeds along with the same memory and got 16191, wow!
i don't typically go with dual solution video cars, but it's a very cheap card to run crossfire with.
it idles at around 40-45c, and even after an hour of gaming (cod4 on high; empire total war on ultra) the card still manages not to rise much about 60c.
oh yeah, it had free shipping too.i'm yet to find a card like this at that price point i paid for.performance: it rivals my gtx 260 in most games, but it's not faster (of course not), specially at
this card is powerful enough to run all of the latest games at decent fps, and in crossfire a pair will easily outperform a 4870 for around the same price as the 4870 1gb.
from gaming to adobe cs4 this card rocks!
