Pros: -When I first got it, the card was taking everything I could throw at it.-Coming from a 9600GT, this was a huge improvement.-Was pretty quiet most of the time unless I was playing something graphically intensive. Cons: -Card died after 2 months-Came with only one 6 pin pci-express to molex converter... what about the other one? from Newegg.com Cons: Card worked fine for 5 or 6 months when computer started turning off. After checking messaging in the event viewer. I found an atimag message stating the video card had overheated and computer was shut down. Opened case and found video card fan had seized. from Newegg.com Cons: Card worked fine for 5 months. Computer started locking up / crashing game during game play, eventually system wouldn't post. Opened case and found video card fan had stopped working, card had overheated so much that plastic fan had MELTED! Other Thoughts: In my five years of shopping at newegg, after buying hundreds of various products, this is my first review- I just have to warn you guys! I have bought THREE of these beauties for various builds, and they seem to have a failure rate of 100%- artifacts, screen corruption, DOA- if it's a problem, I've had it with these cards. Newegg was awesome as usual and took care of me with RMAs, but the lack of quality in HIS's production is clear. from Newegg.com Now it does that every time I boot, I must open my case every time and touch the fan to get it moving. Now I am afraid to leave my computer on for fear of fire or severe heat or electrical damage. I'm sorry, but if I spend $139.99 (got it on sale) on a 1GB GDDR5 video card of this size, speed, and capability, it had better not be the fan that ultimately ruins the card and my opinion of HIS. Other Thoughts: Just ordered the Zalman VF1000 4-heatpipe cooler (Newegg # N82E16835118037) to replace the heatsink since most negative feedback on this card says HIS has terrible customer service. from Newegg.com Plays all games i throw at it, is much faster than my brothers nvidia 250/9800... All around a good card. Cant beat the price vs peformance Cons: Memory speed changes when starting up video causeing screen flickering, can be stopped by overclocking or underclocking memory speed one tick... Out of the box I popped the disc in, which gave me drivers for Radeon HD 4800 (I expected 4870, but suppose it uses the same drivers?) Anyway, I tested out some games compared to my old NVidia 8800 (heh..) and of course everything runs smooth as glass: Team Fortress 2, Guild Wars, WoW (1680X1050 with highest possible settings hits 61 FPS in Ironforge..which used to be known as "Lagforge") All run smoothly. Don't kid yourself from just buying more RAM... from Newegg.com Control of fan speed with riva tuner. The noise is not that bad. Nowhere near an 8800 at 100% fan speed. Cons: Lengthwise it's a bit long. from Newegg.com Pros: This is a great card! Haven't seen it above 70c. Which is cool compared to my Sapphire 1gb 4850 which breaks 100c under heavy gaming and sounds like a small jet taking off! Runs all games on high with ease. from Newegg.com
