It still gets as high as 110c under load and a few times has reached critical shut off temp playing vanguard. Its also very loud with the fans running at 75%. I wouldn't recommend buying this particular 4850. from Newegg.com Installed new driver update and this bug seems to have gone away. 9.7 install with Vista was trouble free. ATI Catalyst ver 9.7 ref 0910 release date 8/5/2009 Cons: Under XP I had no problems updating HIS drivers. Switched to Vista and had fits with install failures for the 9.5 driver version. from Newegg.com Pros: It's a 4850; a decent card. My friend has had this card for over a year, and I borrowed it for a few weeks while my card was being RMA'd. from Newegg.com Pros: Along with a AMD dual core 6000+, 3GB ram, Winfows XP 32 bit. This 4850 plays Crysis very well on all high settings with no AA, 1440 x 900 Acer Monitor. Card is made to withstand a lot of heat. from Newegg.com It does everything you need at a reasonable price. I have consulted with two new computer builds as of late and recommended this card for both users. When I bought this ATI's drivers were still few and far between, the HIS Tech drivers that came with it worked great. I eventually switched to the ATI ones out of personal preference. from Newegg.com (w/e you call those small things in the back of the card) I even had Accelero Cooling which is an AWESOME product, with that product my card NEVER went above 46c!! i always monitored the temperatures, and it never went above it. Now i dont know if my warranty is void because i removed the original cooling from the card, but Come on HIS, that thing used to run above 80c with stock cooling. Other Thoughts: Accelero would be the best cooling for this product. from Newegg.com Pros: This is an update to a review I submitted earlier. It was a nice thought, even if I didn't use it. This was my first ATi card (came off an 8600GT), and I do not know why ATi has such a bad reputation. This card is wonderful. from Newegg.com It would over heat if I didn't set it so the fan was 100% all the time. With the fan at 100% the temps would stay at about 70-75. Other Thoughts: 6GB DDR3 RAM, i7 920 CPU OCed to 3.2 GHz, OCed 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4870 / GPU Clock 790 - Memory Clock 1100, 640GB HD, 1,000w Power Supply, Vista home 64 bit. from Newegg.com This is not a problem of overheating because I had a zalman vf1000 heatsink on there and it never got past 60C under load, with really good cooling in my antec 900. Also, I'm not sure when they came....but I found deep scratches on the back of the card that knocked off a few chips(or whatever those little things are called). I am currently in the RMA process from HIS, but they say it may take up to 2-4 weeks... Other Thoughts: this is a good card, but the quality seems questionable, the customer service from HIS has been ok so far. from Newegg.com
