other thoughts: my friend has a similar xfx 8600 and he has had heating problems as the card constantly goes over 70 c just playing on wow , this never goes over 50, sure it's a tad more expensive but

running it would bottle neck so bad but this chip oc'ed from 1.6 to 2.8 easy and it keeps it from bottle necking no prob this is a great card still plays all my games at my 1280x1024 res maxed no lag

now i'm guessing the grinding noise on start up of my computer was this card and not my pci cooler like i thought.

other thoughts: it has (as coronal mentioned) a pci-e power plug, which not all psus have cables for.
