if you are on a budget, or only play one or two pc games, as i do, then this card is it.
i've tested it on oblivion and fallout and some others and the card runs great at max resolution and medium/high settings.
now if your looking for a power house of a gaming card this is not it, but i must say this card can hold its own.
(this card does not require an auxiliary power connector.) no, it doesn't support crossfire, but neither do the majority of machines that mere mortals own.
i also got this card with the mail in rebate deal and it made it a sweet deal.this is great for the casual/mid level gamer especially if you are thinking of making a media center pc.
other thoughts: it's an excellent card if you have a budget or play games that don't require an extreem amount of gpu power (wow is the game that i play, 49 fps average under full settings).as
bundle came with stalker - clear sky and it runs the game at full graphics near perfectly.
it is very quiet with the automatic fan speed even during gaming.
games are awesome now on my 22" monitor cons: its a pretty big card but thats to be expected other thoughts: if i have enough money left over after tax season i'm buying a second one
plays every game i threw at it with max settings and still kept a good frame rate.
it's energy efficient so it runs the card at low speeds when you're in windows, but as soon as you fire up a game it revs up into full power mode and the clock speeds are the stock speeds listed
i let the card run on auto for a day to see how it would react to idle and gaming situations..then i just decided to set it to 30% minimum (idle) and 70% max (full load) under the controller.
it ran the free stalker game that came with it maxed out with out any problems.
i can run many games very smoothly with this video card.
it can handle all the games i play tf2, fallout 3, l4d.
i have this card paired in crossfire with a similar gigabyte 1gig card (ddr3) and it is obviously the dominant card (ddr5).
plays all my games -max settings/max res on my t220hd xd this card revs like an engine when i power up my pc cons: looks great, but can't see the graphics when its facing down in my case -_-
i chose the his 4870 1gb card do to some friends having several of the 4850 cards in single and crossfire configs.
other thoughts: have had driver issues during gaming w/no overclocking one the card at all.
when my computer idles i can't really hear it, but as soon as i start up a game, the fan kicks in to high gear and whines away.
i am no seriously thinking how awsome it would be to set up a crossfire system with this card for around $160.00 you could have a killer crossfire set up.
and when gaming it goes up to aobut 60-75's...
other thoughts: this card will allow you to play games at decent framerates up to 1680x1050.
it's good enough for your budget rigs and average gamers.
good frame rates in modern games awesome for budget pc builder!!
