After researching GPS devices, the 1390T seemed like the best option.
Having used a factory installed in dash GPS system from what I consider one of thr leading systems for 3 years in my previous car, I have high expectations of a GPS system, and the 1390t lives up to almost all of them.
I bought my garmin to replace a cheap omnitech gps that died.
It works FAR better then any in-car solution.
I had the 1390T for a week.
..
As of today (05 September 2009), this unit is "not ready for prime time." When I brought mine home earlier this week, I immediately connected to [...] using the supplied TomTom HOME software program.
Bottom line: The TomTom GO 740 distinguishes itself by adding a GPRS cellular modem that enables several novel features not commonly found in a GPS unit.
Device has excellent features.
Foremost, I'd like to address the naysayers that scared me into thinking I had made the wrong choice by stating how lousy tomtom support was.
This is a nice entry level GPS.
After years of using an old Garmin c320, I was excited to get my hands on a newer GPS system to see what I was missing.
4) Poor GPS fix.
Competition is good and I am happy to see another respectful contender in the GPS navigation arena.
I bought a Garmin Nuvi 350 a while back (paid around $800 when it first came out), and since this old time favorite I've had high expectations from the little GPS units for the car..
This very webpage advertising the Nuvi 1370t shows the pretty picture of the arrow showing the lane change onto Exit 2V onto 14th St, is actually called "Junction Assist" and is not available on the 1370T.
Delivered on time, up to now no complains, works like supposed to be.
Erratic performance.
Don't ever try to contact Garmin via phone.
Garmin nüvi 1370T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
Great product at reasonable price.
I am very happy with my Bushnell Neo golf GPS.
He hasn't used it on the course yet (we have a foot of snow on our courses right now), but I can tell you the set up of the product was confusing.
I can see why folks aren't happy with this product.
I did alot of research on the Golf GPS units before I made the decision to purchase the Bushnell XGC unit.
most of the features are easy to use although i'm just learning the voice commands.
the volume control is way too small and difficult to use.
for instance, the d3 made it super easy to search for "wendys in robbinsville, nc", this new unit is a 5 min process to get that information - nice/easy eq settings - sounds great - nav data
it does it with ease and with style i love how they give you 3 different ways to look at the track info.
About what I expected for the price.
Magellan Customer service is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.
Magellan will not update your map after 30 from ''purchase''.
Pros: About time someone came up with a mexico gps plus usa.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Not as good as my girlfriend's Magellan Roadmate 1412.
Does the Magellan 1210 have every bell and whistle of the the higher end Garmin Nuvi, or even the other Magellan products: No of course not.
For me, I take into consideration similar products, and that is why I say this is a good GPS for the price.
Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation devices were expensive luxury items only a few years ago.
Depending on how much you use a device liek this --- a phone GPS programm may be a better option.
I am enjoying this Magellan RoadMate.
1.
Alredy being the owner of a Garmin Nuvi 760 (with MSN traffic subscription as well,) I often wonder if I didn't jump the gun by going with the "big name" in GPS.
As a first-time GPS owner, I have found I REALLY like the features of this unit ....
Being a first time GPS user, I was intimidated by the Magellan Roadmate 1340.
For about $100, you get more than a barebones GPS, but it's not upscale and some of the missing options are really perplexing as to why simple things were excluded.
I believe that other GPS systems have a true geocaching mode with logging and cache maintenance.
Great GPS unit!
I thought it was a great idea and I bought it to use on my boat in Lake Winnepausakee so it can guide me while cruising and I can listen to the satellite radio BUT I was faced with the following problems:
I'm disgusted with the Bushnell ONIX 400 and the Bushnell Customer Service.
The aerial maps from Bushnell are very detailed and provide a great perspective on the land around you.
entering destination information is easy, simply tapping on the screen, and the unit allows you to store favorite locations.
this product is easy to use and accurate.
this is easy to use.
excellent product easy to set up and use, we love it and wouldn't be without it
i find the menus logical and very easy to use.
as long as you don't store too many voice commands -- i say no more than five -- the system is quite accurate.
it seems to use 2 of the most popular navigation softwares: navteq and navigon, so maps and pois should be very accurate.
setup is easy, although practically no documentation is enclosed in the box.
pros: 5" screen, lane assist, clear instructions, easy to enter address, fast route calculation, 360 degree compass, scenic route planning, in 3d mode can see from 0.5 mile to 2 mile ahead depending
a map interface on the computer allows you to customize routes with stops and side trips easely.
maps cover both usa and canada and i am canadian.4.
prostext to speech driving directions; 4.3" large screen; have pedestrian modes; accurate enough to use in unfamiliar locales; easy to use; relatively inexpensive.
value:
unit can be modified with ease
user interface is simple and easy.
it was a very good value to complete my home theater on a budget.
i also checked the vertical profile for my trip which seemed accurate based on usgs maps for the area.
it's small and light enough and easy enough to use; not overly complicated.
it's easy to use and easy to read.
the unit looks great, handles great, and is fairly easy to use for a windows machine.
Garmin is known for it's versatile GPSs.
I found my Garmin very easy to use.
I got my 1260T from an authorized dealer on June 19 and used it along side of my 255 with MSN traffic.
My wife is the world's biggest Garmin fan.
I am happy with the Garmin, but one of the reasons I selected this unit was because in the Amazon product description the unit is described as being able to broadcast traffic alerts AND CELL PHONE CALLS through the car's FM radio.
1 month after I purchased the power cord broke.
I agree with the previous reviewer: it is way cheap that Garmin doesn't include a USB cable with the unit.
I bought this Garmin because it seemed like it would be easy to use.
Unfortunately, that unit has terrible TTS, so I may use distance and direction announcements only and skip the street names, but I got this thing to keep from getting lost and I've taken more bad turns and odd routes with the Garmin 1300 than I ever ...
I have Garmin 200W and wanted to upgrade to 1300 due to finding sats quicker and that part works, but this GPS takes you in very very strange directions.
but now that i know what to do, transferring maps is quick and easy, and the device works well.
ng has a very useful support page that describes how to set up the triton for communicating with topo!, but it is difficult to locate on their web page and it is not entirely accurate.
According to the product description, "the Magellan Triton 2000 is so easy to use that its user manual may never make it out of the box." Alas, this statement is completely untrue.
As a hand held GPS the Triton 2000 is on par with most hand held units of similar price.
Pros: Dont know yet.
This is one great GPS people.
While driving, the car on the GPS displays shows being off road.
Got the unit yesterday and used it on the way to work.
Having owned Alpine car audio gear for over 25 years, I opted for the PND-K3 when I purchased my first portable GPS unit.
i think having all in one unit is a lot simpler.
i am not very computer literate but setting this system is very easy.
Do not buy this product.
Kenworth now puts gps in their trucks, why don't they use worldnav, because it don't work.
Does not do what it claims to do.
4350 vs 4370: The 4370's screen is higher res ad it's sold exclusively at Best Buy, otherwise they're exaclty the same.
Bought the Magrllan 4370 at Best buy for $149.95.
OK, maybe the maps are 30 years old, nope got home and looked up the Magellan website, 1 year old, this highway is one of the oldest in the area, but there were software updates available, so I installed the software, updated it tol the latest versio...
I have had so many portable GPS units, it's not funny.
I have owned a Maestro 3225 (Costco special) for 1.5 years.
