prosthis is a very good product with a lot of features and ease of use.
have a freind who had a problem with his right out of the box.
after literally hours (probably over ten) with support in the philippines and florida, i could not get anyone to resolve my connectivity problem.
all the other reviewers comments are valid, the software is difficult to use, the gpsr itself is difficult to use, and there are a lot of shutdowns and "outdoornav.exe" errors.
perhaps many of you may already know this, but there's no easy way of getting street maps on the triton.
After riding with someone that had a GPS nav system, I decided to give it a try.
I bought the 885t 2 months ago and have returned 2 to Amazon due to defects.
At last, a GPS that lets you concentrate on the road.
I "upgraded" from a Garmin NUVI 350 to an 885T.
Would have given it a 5 star rating - if it was less expensive relative to the other Garmin models.
It did not come with a transducer for the fishfinder.
I leave it on GPS most of the time as it also displays speed, heading, water depth, water temp.
by comparison, i used the garmin 770 for two weeks of travel in europe, but thought it had enough flaws to keep me from buying it.
the tomtom go 930 was purchased because it has both usa and european maps.
i have had the pleasure of using the 930 in europe and in various major cities in the u.s.
as far as i know these two are the only models that come with european maps pre-installed.
as soon as i landed, i bought tomtom 930 because tomtom is very famous in europe.
Review: This gps has a lot of things going for it.
Once the satellite is acquired the product performs well.
We purchased the Roadmate 1470 days before our month long roadtrip.
I'd like to give the Magellan RoadMate my whole-hearted endorsement.
I got a Magellin 1470.
I really like this unit as it has been greatly refined from the last Garmin I bought 4 years ago.
This GPS works great, and I agree with many of reviews posted so far.
This is my second Garmin, only because my son asked to have my other one when he headed off to college this fall.
Once or twice it notified a turn a little late (it announced it beforehand but not when it got closer to the turn).
It generally works, but overheats and shuts down for 5-6 hours and makes some really bad navigation decisions.
i started off using a Garmin E-Trex Venture HC about a year ago and logged a good amount of caches.
Has Garmin forgotten that some people use GPS units to determine where they are?
I have had a lot of experiences with GPS units and systems.
I have used this GPS on hikes with navigational requirements and just general testing.
I purchased this GPS for the sole purpose of Geocaching and while I'm sure it will be used for hiking/biking that isn't why I got it.
After reading the other reviews I was looking forward to using the Garmin product.
Gave this gift to my mom for her birthday.
Generally I am very pleased with the purchase.
I bought this for my husband who is very computer chalenged.
I bought this GPS to replace an old TomTom.
pros: great value!
pros: easy to install and use, small and compact, text to speech
pros: intuitive interface, often accurate, inexpensive, and provides good detail on how long the trip will be, arrival time, etc.
i live in raleigh, nc - lots of new roads and construction, so will look for something with more accurate maps - if i can find one!
as for map accuracy--i've only seen two times when it wasn't accurate, and in both cases it had to do with current road construction.
Not cool, Garmin...
As of June 2009 we have owned the nuvi 785T GPS for 6 weeks.
At first, I wasn't interested in a GPS unit, but since I will be traveling to several cities on vacation this year that I am not so familiar with and I travel a fair amount on my job, I decided to buy one.
If you want a great GPS packed with features this is it.
Garmin does it again.
Nuvi is a great GPS.
I just wish it had a "built in stand that would make it easier to see in most cars.
I went outside like it said in the directions.
But it did not have the "announce lane changes" feature that my Nuvi 750 had.
Just received my Garmin nuvi 1200 and I am thrilled.
Easy to use, instructions could be a little better.
Great product at reasonable price.
I am very happy with my Bushnell Neo golf GPS.
I had a Neo iGolf and when I broke it, I had to order another one.
I decided to call Bushnell support in the morning.
Although a reasonably well performing GPS with decent telephony features, I strongly, stronly recommend AGAINST buying this product.
Garmin has released software version 2.80 for the Zumo 660.
So I decided to get the just released Garmin Zuno 660 to replace my TomTom Easy Rider.
I have a Zumo 550 and it was with interest that I helped a friend install his Zumo 660.
I have had the 660 for a little over a week now and found that setup and hookup of the unit is very easy and straightforward.
This device does everything that a GPS unit should, and it does it well.
Better GPS available out there
After having used 6 or 7 other GPS units (Garmin Nuvi 680 and 255, two in dash GPS units in Cadillac cars and couple of units in rental cars) I find this Magellan Roadmate1440 to be slightly above average performer.
Although I'm usually an early adopter of new technology, I'm relatively new to the world of GPS navigators.
Despite whatever features this unit may or may not have, and its performance in general, ultimately it is a failure as you can barely see the screen if it's in sunlight.
...and likely my last from Garmin anyway.
All Garmin really did here is over clock the CPU, add a crappy FM transmitter and other stuff I don't need.
A lot of features on this Garmin, I was very happy with it but unfortunately it broke, it restarts by itself when you try to turn it on, if it's plugged to car power, it restarts continuously.
I'll probably buy this unit elsewhere because Amazon mis-states the Garmin list price at $849.
After less than 60 days my 775T just died on me!
The unit is great but seeing as it uses the MSN Direct service there might be a problem since I read where Microsoft is discontinuing the service in 2012.
What's great about it:?Built in traffic, Garmin reliability
What's great about it:?car selection in it
"Good GPS unit for those wanting more that the basic units.
"I like the 285w however I can't find extra parts such as an extra power cable with the MSN antenna or the clip that holds the 284w to the mount the unit on Best Buy's web site.
After doing some research on the GPS system, I finally decided to purchase Navigon 2000S.
Amazon has just delivered this GPS unit.
I have attempted to navigate the Navigon home page and it is a nightmare also.
GPS works as promised,Instructions are ok but could be more explict but the online manual is sufficent.
I have 3 SNAP 7,s and 2 SNAP 3 and they are the best GPS I have had.
We used it to find a service center nearby, it gave us several locations & we called one of the locations & they informed us we only needed an adaptor and could purchase it at any car parts store.
It is not a best GPS but it have anything you need .$151.00 for 7''GPS ,no where you can find this.
Our first GPS was a 15" laptop.
Neither the Nextar website nor any other sites offer skins for this device.
I bought the unit for my son and he cant stop talking about all of the features that are built into such a small box.
I bought this system in December 2008 for my 2001 Chevy Tahoe.
I have this in my 05 F-150 supercrew cab along with a 12" Kicker sub and 4 Kenwood door speakers with a mono alpine 500 watt amp.
It works like most GPS' that I have tried (TomTom & Garmin).
The complaints I have are as follows: *GPS screen is very basic (colors, contrast, icons) *GPS not as robust as standalone units *Bluetooth hands free feature is useless unless your vehicle is extremely quiet on the inside *No RDS on the radio (Does...
Difficult to set up.
Got this today..plotted a trip and it got me there fine.
I bought this TOM TOM because I needed it for a trip to Atlanta.
I bought this unit based on the features advertised and was quickly disappointed.
I purchase this item after my One-third edition was stolen.
