On the Plus side it does have large readable type, the pairing of the cell phone was simple and actually worked! Plus the points of interest had a very large database to find shops, gas stations theaters and restaurants, but some were missing that their 4000 had like radio and television! over all the Cobra 4000/4500 acually worked better!
Had this for about 3 weeks. After performing the software updates unit seems to have slowed down slightly. The current Navteq maps installed by Cobra are 2 revisions out of date. I received this while on sale for $249 and this unit is hands down winnerin this price range.
I compared this unit side-by-side with a Tom Tom. Can't remember the unit model of the Tom Tom, but it was in the same price range as the Cobra. The Cobra is slightly larger but doesn't make a significant difference in what you see on the screen.
i had acobra 4000 and it was broken. I purchased the 5000 expecting work better, and it is not, I can use the sip code, voice giving directions hard to understand, i think the 4000 is a better one, I don't recomended the 5000, I think the garmin is a better option.
Several things to say so i will keep it shortThis is the best GPS i have found. I have tried allot of different one's but this is the best. Down fall is that Cobra (The company) has NO accessory's to plug in but the GARMIN products adapt very well. If you are trying to use the bluetooth option i suggest before you leave the store buy a GARMIN external Mic the one built into the GPS is bad you can't be heard unless you have your mouth directly on it.
I went to AZ for spring training and our rental car had a Garmin in it, and I fell in love with the idea. On return, I purchased the Cobra 5000 for the larger screen. It has met all my expectations.
I recently purchased the Cobra 5000 for my wife who does a lot of traveling doing Genealogy research that requires her to drive to some out of the way places. It has worked great and has taken a lot of guess work and has actually cut down in her travel times.
I had a Cobra 4000 and it was stolen. I purchased the 5000 expecting it would be better then the older version.
I had to trade in my Garmin after it just stoped working, and 'upgraded' to the Cobra. It has worked great, easy to use easy to see.
Loved the size, however, it has MAJOR freezing problems. I've bought and returned3 units in the past month. Cobra tech support originally said they had a softwareproblem and sent me the fix. I downloaded it into the newest one #3 and guess what, sameproblemNO HELP from tech support.
