I purchased this Garmin for my husband who is a trail runner. Before he had a chance to use it, he learned from others that it does not receive a gps signal through the trees. from Walmart.com When I made the transition from the gym to outside real-world, I was having trouble keeping an even pace. My tendency was to sprint too fast in the beginning of my run then burn out before I made my distance. The forerunner 201 helps me to keep and even and predefined pace. I don't feel I would have been able to keep my planned training schedule, or finish my first race without it! from Walmart.com The Garmin Forerunner 201 is a great product. Since I love to run, I find it to be a great asset to my running. from Walmart.com The only thing that I miss in this model (as opposed to the 301)is that when you input your personal data it isn't as specific as the 301. It's more general in nature. Example, age, M/F,height....these are not available on the 201. I start my runs from the same location every time and the 201 varies in its pickup of signal even though it's the same time, same location, same weather.
