Over the years I've gone through several garden hose timers to water my garden and yard. Usually, I just go down to the local hardware store and pick one up. from Amazon.com We have one flower bed that isn't covered by the main sprinkler system. I have the Orbit 62001 hooked to the tap via a Y connection with the tap and they Orbit flow permanently turned on, the other side is attached to a hose that is easily turned on via its lever on the Y. The Orbit 62001 works perfectly and the coolest thing it that the control head is detachable so I don't have to lean way over and struggle to make changes in its programming. from Amazon.com This is a great product, works as advertized, easy to program and no water hammer (banging water pipes when valve shuts off). One thing I would recommend is to use quick connect couplings with this unit or any other. The reason being that it is easy to cross thread hose fittings when they are made of plastic. The Orbit 62001 has one plastic hose fitting and if it gets damaged then the unit would be useless or expensive to repair. from Amazon.com the Orbit 62001 look good on paper. I connected it to the main outdoor faucet (aka hose bibb) via a six foot hose, then used a series of "Y" valves to allow this to feed three soaker hoses. from Amazon.com I'll say its not the easiest one to operate but once you get used to it's operation you'll find its the highest quality available. It's a very solid product, with no leaks and is very compact in size. It is worth the extra cash for the features, especially being able to disconnect only the timer for winter and bring it indoors. from Amazon.com I installed my timer and the valve would open, but with hardly any downstream pressure. I called Orbit and they suggested I return the timer, which I did and asked for a replacement. The replacement came, and same thing. from Amazon.com I am using this timer on a garden sprinkler system that requires 115 PSI. Originally, I purchased another Orbit watering timer (w/ 2 dials) but it could not handle high pressure above 80PSI and allowed water to leak through the valve.
