I bought this radio for my wife who likes to listen to talk stations during the day. We live in an area that has very poor reception for AM stations and I had tried other radios with no success.
I like this unit's performance and Sangean's commitment to AM radio. The black model is a bit pricey and next time I would get the wood grain.
I have heard enough about HD radio, so I saved enough gift certificates, and finally bought this "new" "digital" radio. when I opened the package from amazon.com.
I use the Sangean WR-2 in my kitchen, and only as a radio. I like the reception that the radio gets, its outstanding sound and the convenient remote control.
I've always been a fan of nice radios and I've always purchased a Sony. The reviews here led me to try the Sangean.

I really am enjoying this radio and am using it to wake up in the morning. Nice reception and high quality speaker for a nightstand clock radio.
If you are looking for a clock radio that is easy to set and quickly change the alarm settings this is not the radio for you in spite of the quality of the sound. The previous clock radio I had for 25 years (Nakamura) only required two buttons to change the alarm settings, this radio requires four buttons and wastes time.
I had bought a Sony under the cabinet radio for the kitchen and the reception was terrible. I returned it and bought the Sangean radio.
I have a Bose radio and needed another radio. I purchased the WR-2 and I was surprised of the sound, it is close to a Bose.
