I would suggest a set of over-the-head style headphones for a kid. There will be less chance of damaging their ears if the headphones get bounced around while they are wearing them. Check out the Califone International 2800-BL consumer headphones. They are a nice blue color, will fit a childs head comfortably, and are highly rated.
