QUESTION: Why does coffee maker leak from bottom of unit?

After filling the well, the coffee maker leaks water all over the counter, even if I start brewing it immediately. This makes a big mess overnight, because it's programmed to come on at 4 o'clock in the morning.

I removed the bottom of my Cuisinart coffee maker and found that the rubber hose coming from the well had a split in it near where it connects to the metal tube that feeds it up into the coffee maker for brewing. The rubber has to be able to withstand heat, as it sits next to the heating element, so I'm not sure what I'll be able to find to repair it. You'd think the Cuisinart folks I spoke with would have known this.

I don't know the answer, but someone needs to figure it out because my mr coffee is doing the same thing. I fill it up, and it leaks whatever I put in there out the bottom. I don't know how to fix this so please help, someone.
