One thing that is really going to launch Blu Ray is Warner Brother's announcement that they are switching to the Blu Ray format. This now means about 70% of all movies are going to be available on Blu Ray. So while I agree the pricing and quality may not be there yet, they are going to be the way the industry is moving in the years ahead.

I have read a lot about the Sony laptop models that feature Blu Ray drives. Unfortunately, they have not been well received, and many early adopters have had continual problems with the drives functioning properly. I would give them a while to work out the kinks.
