The Xbox is reasonable because it has good graphics and cpu power, and a really established set of games, in particular, Halo 3. The PS3 is the most powerful, but its expensive and the game catalog is still lacking. I would recommend getting Wii because although it has the least amount of processing power, the games and game play are by far the best. I would recommend something like medal of honor.
I'm not sure that KitchenAid mixers are "innovative," but they are definitely among the best you can find, so if you're looking to upgrade your kitchen appliances, getting a KitchenAid mixer is a good idea.
It's a decent camera. It really depends on what you're looking for. I personally like Nikon cameras, so something like the D40 or D70 is a really nice camera if you're looking for a really nice SLR quality shot.
The Hitachi DVD camcorder is a pretty reliable brand in general. It depends on which specific one you buy, but going with a Hitachi should be a good choice no matter which one you get.
I would recommend using a blender for milk shakes. If you use a mixer, it's probably going to be more trouble and clean up than is necessary. If you get a good blender like this one: http://wize.com/blenders/sunpentown-cl-511-blen...
you should be able to make pretty good milk shakes. I've tried with a regular blender and a hand blender. The kind they use at milk shake places are the ones you lift the shake up to, and the reason why they use those instead of blenders is because sometimes the ice cream will float at the top and not get mixed evenly. But, as long as you have a good blender, and you shake it a couple times to make sure the ice cream gets mixed through, you should get good shakes.
You don't really need anything fancy to make cookies. I've used a Kitchen Aid 5qt mixer for cookies before, but I always use the lowest power settings for this. I would recommend something with a decent sized bowl, 3 quarts or more, so that your all your dough fits, but for watts and horsepower, you don't need anything more than basic stuff.
I would recommend: http://wize.com/mixers/euro-pro-ep585wl-mixer/d...
http://wize.com/mixers/west-bend-180-watts-4102...
They have a good sized bowl, not too much money, and a high wizerank.
The reason you don't need a lot of power is when you are making cookies, you don't want to over mix the dough, and you want the dough to be roughly mixed so that you get a nice flaky soft texture. If you use a high watt or horsepower setting, you will over mix the dough and get tough flat cookies.
The occasions you would want a lot of watts and horsepower are things like beating eggs to make meringue or whipped cream.
I'm not sure, but I think the Logitech STX is the newer version of the Logitech 5000. They appear to be essentially the same product, but the 5000 is older and the STX is newer. I would recommend going with the STX since its brand new. The STX is a pretty good camera, and it has a microphone built in, which makes it convenient. I know the software that comes with makes it easy installation and easy to use. Also, logitech is a good brand, so the logitech stx should be a good choice.
You probably don't have to specifically get a bigger power supply just for the GeForce 8600 GTS video card, but if you're upgrading your system with a better video card, and maybe a bigger HD or CPU, I would suggest going with at least 400W for power supply. Probably the best thing to do is go with a 500W power supply so that when you do upgrade other components to your machine, they'll all work well.
Another thing you could try if you don't want to get a whole new power supply, is to hook all your USB devices to a USB hub, which would have its own separate power source. That will free up some of the power demands on your machine.
