Best Floppy Drives for Disk

since i still use floppy disks it is handy to move from computer to computer.

pros: needs no power source or drivers cons: why don't people give up their floppy disks?

conssome brands of disks require formatting eventhough they claim to be formatted.

though i don't use floppy disks anymore there are people that still have older pcs that i need to give info to.

my new computer doesn't have the 3.5 disk drive.

works with my dell latitude xp laptop and i can read/write onto floppy disk but does not work with my dell dockingstation nor can i boot properly with the floppy drive attached to my laptop usb port.

it now makes a grinding noise when it tries to access any floppy disk.

lacie floppy disk drive works fine on apple g5 with mac os x version 10.3.9.

this little disk drive is instantly recognized by any computer; just plug it into any usb port.

drive does not read floppy disks.

will not format disks and requires multiple attempts for reading and writing to disk.

i was able to format a disk, but that was it.

this external drive is a real lifesaver in permitting me to access 3-1/2" disks.

it refused to recognize known good disks, whether blank or containing data, and asked to format.

i was able to read, write, and format floppy disks in windows xp pro (32 bit) and windows vista ultimate (64 bit) environments.

sadly, though f6 does read this disk, and loads the drivers in appropriately without any problem, windoz setup script fails at some later point when trying to activate raid on an existing xpp install

i was already using the lacie floppy disk drive, but since i have two computers, i was constantly unplugging the floppy disk drive from one computer and re-plugging it into another one.

review: floppy disks are pretty much obsolete thanks to cd-rs and flash drives.

but when i inserted a disk, and clicked on the disk drive, a message opened asking if i wanted to format the disk.

they don't bother telling you in the product description that this floppy drive can't be used to boot your computer system from this drive........had to find out the hard way after scanning the files
