i have found it to have an excellent picture with color reproduction as good or better than lcd's costing several hundred dollars more and the black levels are pretty good for an lcd as well.
so i'm thankful that i don't have to revert back to using my disks and/or reripping everything at an even higher level.

after struggling for a week it appears that i was able to adjust settings to more so manageable levels.
most importantly it has pitch dark black level, scorching brightness, high color accuracy, and good motion processing.
bottom line is, the black levels are great, the color is great, the picture is great, the motion clarity is great.
black levels like a plasma tv.
pros: great picture, many features, excellent black levels, little "tweaking" required.
black levels are very good.
something i did not know is that you have a "power save" option that dims the backlight to different levels.
video game play had no hitches, no lag, and the black levels are great, but i still haven't figured out how to tone them down a bit for hdmi, if its possible.
also, the panel was not perfectly level on the stand.
i calibrated my screen and kept the black level off, and it cleared everything up.

the picture is so crisp and clear and the black level really black that it took a while to get used to watching it.
i have been very impreseed with the black levels (50k to 1 contrast) as well as the most important feature, non high def picture.
sure its a pricey tv but its also loaded with great features, tons of settings, and the latest led backlight technology which provides black level that takes lcds into plasma territory without the
granted, no one ever watches a blank screen in the dark - but there really is a difference in the black levels between these sets.
actually, most lcds have nice black levels to my non-videophile eye but the ln55a950 was in a category of its own and rivaled any plasma i saw in terms of inky blacks.
the resolution, contrast/black level and color accuracy are tons better than the old tv-which had benchmark performance in 04-just illustrates that five years is a very long time when you are talking
i was just looking around the level, smiling like an idiot.
colors are incredible and the black levels are stunning.
the quality of the picture and the black levels are unbelieveable.
i use home theatre.out of the box picture looked fine, but i used cnet's recommended settings(except i left led level +1) and now it looks great...using my denon reciever to upconvert from my cable.
"i originally bought the 46zv650u from toshiba....and let me tell you this tv beats that one in every way shape and form.from it's sexy styling, to amazing colors and black levels and near perfect
i called samsung and spoke with `level 1' tech support about this.
the b750 can match the black levels of the rp crt and has no clouding or flashlighting that i was seeing on the a750/a850 sets, which my wife and i almost decided to get.
the feature can be turned off or adjusted on 10 levels.

more important, the volume level is great on a digital channel where some sets fail because of low volume levels.

i ordered pizza and carefully installed the mount.i picked up a level mount dc65t tilt for screens 33-65 inches.
they do however provide incredibly accurate colors, picture quality, black level, and brightness in the average home setting.
i can't think of a reason to spend more if you're looking for an entry level hd set.excellent picture right out of the box.
the new x1 is definitely better than either of the other tvs i own in terms of black levels, lack of blurring, and power consumption.
i rate this tv as a great value and great performance, i also own a toshiba 65" dlp and a sony 40" lcd and this panasonic plasma has the best color levels and blacks of the three.
to me they are on the same level as the led by samsung, and they far surpass the samsung plasmas.
once calibrated it has comparable black levels.
very bright, decent black levels.
lot of the movies i saw in the sony are much better on this tv, very good black level, contrast and color.
i would have liked even better sound (or speaker-level outputs so that i could operate this without our high-fi system being on, and with my old outstanding external speakers from an old dead sony
overall, i found the xbr to have a more realistic picture and accurate colors, and better black levels.
i admit that those who are used to having booming surround sound audio would probably be disappointed, but the sound set at medium levels is very nice for day to day viewing.
the xbr8 will work better in a room with normal light levels than the kuro and also renders standard definition programs better than the kuro.
the picture is fantastic , the on-screen menu controls are well designed and intuitive , the built in sound is as good as could be expected ( and is vernier controllable at very low levels - great at
cons: black contrasts still aren't near the level displayed in plasmas and the led technology also looks to be a major improvement in this area.
the 60 is very good, but the 120 takes it to the next level.
the sony was way too hot (even when the brightness and backlighting were set to low levels.)
call me picky, but this tv purchase will be my last one for at least the next five years and i dont want black level issues from day one.
there is also some thoughts that the thinner design contributes to the higher black levels.
the remote control is tricky - have to click several times often to get channel changed or sound level adjusted.
make sure it's on a level base because with the glass screen it's slightly front-heavy.
i have always been bothered by the image i saw from lcds as i have seen many mid level sonys.
black levels as dark as night.
and you just cannot get the black levels this tv delivers.
reason is the black levels (which can be seen especially on a good bluray and hdnet tv).
power consumption, black level and anti-reflection screen (usually features force people to buy lcd tvs instead of plasmas) are way above the average compare to other plasma tvs including my
the black levels are very deep, making the colors just pop.
i love the dark black level's of plasma tv's.the picture on this tv is awesome.
samsung also had some good values but i just cannot get past the "touch of color" red accents on their mid and upper level tvs.
what's great about it:?picture, sound, price and perfect 4 gaming what's not so great:?light black levels.
what's great about it:?great picture, build quality, price what's not so great:?black levels arn't great "i bought a samsung ln32b550 because i read that this lg had poor black levels and a poor
-black levels are very close, sony's is a bit deeper and maintains black colors better at angles.
as a matter of fact, when i saw it i thought it was plasma because the black level is so good.
at each level, a few hook issues solved quickly by tech support from the cable provider, and a killer picture.
compare it side-by-side with mid-level samsungs and sonys, and you'll have to agree the picture is every bit their equal, and it costs hundreds less.
cnet review said the black levels were "subpar", but go and look at the comparable tvs side by side in a store and tell me if you can really see a difference.
best black levels i've seen in any lcd and viewing angles are superb!!!!
