if a networked computer tries to connect to the internet while someone is talking the router crashes on a regular basis and has to be reset by power cycling.apparently the routers manage dataflow

i suspect its just a timeout since i'm not sure the drive knows that the printer isn't directly connected to the computer and isn't expecting a response immediately.
