This is my second Canon Elan 7NE. I shoot Photo journallistic weddings and I highly recommend this camera. from Adorama.com When I brought the "V" home over Thanksgiving 2005, as I read through the manual and familiarized myself with the controls, I got the sense that this is a camera that you can truly "meld" with, and that, whatever you see and want to photograph -- regardless of the conditions -- it won't let you down. And that's been proven to be true. And about those controls -- yes, they're more complicated than mid-range Canon bodies, but if I can master them anyone can, and once you do, I'm betting you'll prefer them. As to digital -- Simply put, as of now (much emphasis on those last 3 words) there's nothing I know of that give you a full sized sensor and 10 frames per second, and the pictures are pretty great too -- for anywhere near the price. When there is, I'll consider it, but for now, the "V" is great, and even if I got a digital I would still keep the "V" and my mint condition 1N, which serves as my second body. I bought the camera as a second high quality camera for the reasonable price and the fact that it is compatible with my Cannon equipment. The only drawback is the fact that it is a film camera that comes with film processing costs. Manual difficult to understand regarding some special functions. Could use a good users manual/book by a pro or Canon to guide folks like me in how to best use the various special functions. The 35mm Rebel isn't as great a camera as this one is w/the eye-control, but if you want digital you have to give up that feature and go back down to the rebel model. from Adorama.com
