i like the kenya model because it protects the glass a little and acts as an insulator to protect from the hot/warm glass.
i was wary at first of the faulty manufacturing & glass beaker warnings of other reviewers, but i've used it at least a dozen times since i purchased it and have had no problems whatsoever.
compared to my old one, which was plastic, this bodum is particularly great because it is glass and doesn't absorb that stale coffee smell as much.
the only negative for me is that the caraf is glass and you must be consious of the fact that it is fragile.
it makes good coffee, though i haven't been able to figure out how to separate the black base from the glass yet.
the downside: i drink way more coffee now than before and needed to buy nice espresso glasses to go with it.
it is a very short machine, so only small shot glasses or something of similar height can fit under to catch the espresso, but so far that is the only drawback i have run into.
coffee machine, it's an espresso machine designed for shot glasses, not coffee cups.
foaming pitcher 2) a pair of bodum pavina 2-ounce double-wall thermo espresso shot glasses and 3) a proaccurate insta-read nsf beverage & frothing thermometer.
there are several downsides mentioned by other reviewers; the size/scale - my espresso shot glasses don't fit without tilting them at an angle, the milk frother is short and the top of my pitcher
it also included a capsule bin (for discarding used capsules), a glass latte cup and a coffee cup and saucer.
on another note i should mention that the machine comes with a glass and coffee cup and saucer.
- the machine comes with a starter pack of coffee, a saucer with a cup, and a glass, which were nice touches
in the quick-start guide they show you how far to fill each glass based upon the glasses handle.
in the box is the coffee unit, a box of samples, a latte glass, a cup and saucer, and a black rectangular holder for your used coffee pods.
krups includes 2 each of all available drinks, along with a latte glass and a cup.
once machine is ready, run 2 shots of water through to heat up the portafilter (i have the two most perfect glasses i use to hold the shot - they are tall slender juice glasses that fit perfectly
coffee, the barista kit (with the thermometer, frothing cup, 2 shot glasses, latte spoon, and espresso scoop, oh and a nifty little organizer to keep it all nice), a bottle of vanilla syrup, and 2 lbs
unlike the krups it doesn't preheat the thermal carafe with a hotplate (the krups had one that worked like the type with glass carafes, but turned off after 20 minutes.) i was worried based on what i
finally, it makes a consistently good cup of java pretty quickly and the stainless steel carafe will never break - unlike the glass ones.
the water level gauge is on the right side, and i can see it without wearing my glasses.
some people may not realize that a glass carafe with a heat plate may keep your coffee hotter, but it also burns your coffee in the mean time.
i was debating between this 10-cup thermal ($80), the 12-cup thermal ($130), and the 12-cup glass carafe with warming plate ($80), all by cuisinart.
purchased this beautifully designed stainless steel french press for my husband, since i broke his last two glass carafes.
the coffee tasted better to me than when i've used my own glass coffee press in the past, probably because mine does not keep the coffee hot, and this one is designed to keep the coffee hot.
i'm returning it and going for a traditional glass press--i've been using them for years and never had a problem with any of them.
