don't imagine you'd want them near the microwave.

but because the steamer wand is so weak, you pretty much have to put the cup of your whole latte/mocha mixture at the end into the microwave.

i just heat the milk in the microwave and use an 'aerolater', which works just wonderful and it is easy to clean.

you also have to heat the milk first in the microwave if you want really hot latte's but the steamer works great in general.

so you just fill it with water, microwave it for 6 to 6 1/2 minutes or until the water boils, put three heaping table spoons of coffee in it.

if you just heat water in the microwave, it doesn't get nearly as hot, and yes, it will only be "warm" after letting the coffee sit for 4 minutes to brew.

while it does not say so on the box, i have observed no ill effects from heating water in it in the microwave with the plastic brew basket and plunger assembly removed.

the coffee still tastes fresh up to 3 or 4 hours, although after about 2.5 hours, i usually have to give my coffee cup a quick zap in the microwave.

my microwave, now there is aggravating beeps.

my microwave, which also beeps five times is twice as loud.

i find myself having to microwave the coffee to have it as hot as i like it.
