i finally got this little brewer for christmas and i love having it in my office.
i also have to say that it is silly that the machine turns itself off -- since just after brewing, you'll want to take the k-cup out to toss.
i have this brewing system and love it.
i brewed up some coffee and i thought it was really good, though again i'm no connoisseur.
it's in my cubie, so the three-minute wait for brewing is nothing - just another email message read.
been using this for 3 months now, brewing 2-4 espresso cups everyday.
the large filter doesn't hold as much coffee as it should for a real double shot, and the built in tamper is a joke, but the quality and speed of brewing is pretty good.
i have owned several low cost (in this arena 100 bucks is low cost) pump type brewers and none of them have made espresso coffee this good.
also, turn the coffee maker on at least 15 minutes before brewing if you want a hot cup of coffee, because the machine can take a while to warm up.
now for brewing a cup of americano i start with three cups: a 16oz stainless steel pitcher for frothing, a 4oz espresso cup and a regular 12oz coffee cup.
it does beep when the coffee is done brewing.
we knew we wanted a thermal pot, and have had problems in the past with leaks while brewing and difficult pour spouts.
i've brewed one pot with no problems.
some thermal makers raise the temp of the water during the brewing process to make up for this (bunn, in particular) and you don't notice a difference.
the coffee maker shuts off as soon as the coffee is finished brewing and beeps to tell you to "come and get it!
happy brewing :)
there is a definite advantage to not having a manual cut-off rather than the automatic cut off that is on most single cup brewers.
this unit requires you to move the handle back and forth to start and stop the brewing.
the cup from the dolce gusto tasted much better, and somehow fresher, than the just-brewed cup from my old pot!
i have always struggled with brewing cappuccino's and expresso's at dinner parties and have finally found my answer!
i like the fact that unlike the senseo and the keurig b40 elite gourmet single-cup home-brewing system i can adjust the amount of water used to make my coffee drinks.
nothing gave me real high-pressure brewing and real steamed milk.
the water, screw the black piece back on (there is a lock/ unlock indicator to let you know if you did it right) and then just turn and press the black button/lever to start brewing the expresso.
my workplace only has a small coffee stand which makes the worst espresso in the world, and there aren't any other coffee shops in a 2 miles radius, so brewing my own was the only way to satisfy my
cleanup is more simple than any other brewing method i can think of, just throw away the spent pod and rinse off the 'portafilter'.
to insert the ese pod you just twist off the bottom black piece, pour the water into the clear water "cup", put the ese pod on the metal portion over the water, screw the black piece back on (there
i also was pleased to learn that this coffee maker uses a charcoal filter to filter water prior to brewing.
once the coffee is brewed, the machine will beep 5 times to let you know it's done and then it will turn off.
also, it only needs to stay on while it's brewing--and then it turns itself off--no more leaving the coffeemaker on all day by accident (phew!).
i particularly like that it shuts off completely after brewing; no hot plate that keeps clicking on and off.
generally it is what i wanted- a thermal carafe, fast brewing, cone filter, and fairly nice looking.
before i tried coffee brewed using a french press, i had no idea that it could be strong yet not bitter.
as far as keeping the coffee hot--i'm a mom and can never finish a cup while it's hot!--after brewing, i immediately pour the coffee into a thermal carafe (with a glass bladder) or a stainless steel
the most significant points are that this press is simple to use, allows you to control the strength of your brewed tea, and is also very easy to clean.
once the brewing is done, you can supposedly leave the infuser in place after pushing the plunger down and stopping the brewing.
i brew the tea, press the plunger to stop brewing and then place in the refrigerator.
i also like the easily removeable brewing system that can be taken out for cleaning.
i used to have to wait five minutes or more before brewing another cup but the gran dama empties the grounds and reheats in seconds.
would recommend it for someone looking for an office coffee maker at their desk or at home if you just want one cup of fast brewed coffee.
it does shut off very quickly after brewing...made me feel safe about using it - i'm moving quickly in the morning and won't remember to turn it off.
of course for the rest of us, the pressure brewing system in this machine will allow you to say goodbye to expensive coffee drinks, and become your own favorite barista.
i was quite concerned about the total end-to-end time for brewing in the morning before work, and i have to say in this regard i am very pleased.
bosch tas4511uc tassimo single-serve coffee brewer, silk silver
the t-disks that are used in this coffee brewer are a little expensive.
the bosch tassimo is an excellent single-serve brewing machine.
i had the bosh tassimo brewer, and it was nothing but problems.
if you want to go from brewing to foaming some milk, the machine will balk until you vent a bit of the hot water out first...takes about 5 seconds.
the coffee was great, not quite as good as the $15k commercial machine, but infinitely better than regular pre-ground drip brewed.
pros: attractive looking, best tasting coffee ever, easy to clean, easy to use, great taste, large water storage container, professional, quick brewing best uses: anytime, kitchen, morning coffee
pros: easy to use, large water storage container, professional, quick brewing cons: noisy best uses: morning coffee, office
pros: easy to use, large water storage container, professional, quick brewing best uses: formal dinners, morning coffee bottom line: yes, i would recommend this to a friend
very fast brewing, no drips at all, no clogged filter, real hot coffee...and it shuts itself off.
i also found i like having a freshly-brewed cup for each and every cup.
(2) always check that the drip tube is clear before starting brewing.
i always use a full cup of water but i get only a half a cup of brewed coffee.
