After many discussions with an electrician, I was able to combine the wiring with the black wiring provided with the fan. The fan then worked. I noticed on the internet, this is a common problem with the Hampton Fans. Anyway, love the fan with the etched Opal Glass from Homedepot.com Fan has a wonderful contemporary appearance. We installed it on a 60 inch downrod because we have 20 foot ceilings. The fan does not wobble and produces a lot of air for our 19 x 17 family room. from Homedepot.com Not sure how it will work long term. I agree with other reviewers that the fan looks esthetically an "avant-garde" piece of art. For those who promised themselves never to install an ugly fan -, because all fans are ugly :-) this model is a proof that a ceiling fan can be beautiful besides being useful. from Homedepot.com Third, the light is a halogen light and doesn't light up the room as much as we wanted.
