We still installed it with a 3' downrod because of its great air-rating. After that we noticed that we won't be able to operate the Reverse Switch with an extension pole, because it moves side to side (not up and down like most fans), and to top it off, it is barely raised, not even a real switch! Bad Design, Fanimation! This Fan is definitely not made for 2-story Rooms. from Amazon.com We got the fan 2 weeks ago for our 2 story Family Room (20' by 19' by 18' tall), first thing we noticed: the advertised size of 54" on the box was taped over by a little 52". The manufacturer themselves were not aware of it that the size "changed", but yes, it is a mere 52". from Amazon.com
