Best DVD Players for Philip

if you don't need blue ray playback yet in a dvd player then check this philips dvd player out.

i recently purchased a refurbished dvp5992/37b philips dvd player solely to be able to play dvds from other countries.

i have purchased a few dvd players by other manufactures that claim they can play all divx files but this one by philips is the best.

actually i already have two upconverting players: a pioneer and a toshiba dvd recorder that i recently purchased to replace a philips non-hdmi dvd recorder that finally died.

i've tried several upconverting dvd players (philips dvp5990, toshiba sd6100, and sony ns700) but their performance improvement is negligible compared to my existing 4-year old pioneer 220

(i also have a couple of cheap philips upconverting machines but i am too lazy to do a direct comparison.) i have the following observations.
