i wasn't sure it would make a big difference since i don't have 1080p, but blu-ray discs look much better than my upconverting panasonic dvd recorder when it pays commercially bought dvds or dvd-ram.

when the player is operating in 1080p / 24 frames per second off the hdmi, blu-ray movies looked absolutely amazing.

the 1080p material is as great as i hoped but i think the real bonus here is the up conversion on regular/older dvd's which is really fantastic
