i know blu-ray playback for the most part is very similar, but dvd playback can be night and day from player to player and the oppo has one of the best solutions in the vrs by anchor bay abt-2010
bdp 83 is the best dvd blu ray player i've seen and now own.
i upgraded from a very good denon 1940ci dvd player so that i could begin to purchase and watch blu ray disks and continue to play sacd and dvd-a disks, which the denon does very well.
audio/video quality: i have been avoiding blu-ray for a while now because i had such a great upscaling dvd player.
my first blu-ray player was an lg bd-390 - i returned it because it was a defective piece of poorly built junk.
this is our first blu ray player so i have nothing to compare it to other than our ancient dvd player.
as i do not have any blu-ray discs i tested a regular dvd and it played beautifully (i later compared to my dvd player and it is a very noticable difference).
this june 09 pc worlds best blu ray player is a great product.
i popped in a blu ray disc (sunshine) to test; it took around 40 second to get to the main menu.
it's my first blu-ray player, i looked at this and the new oppo.
we received this product on time, work very good, for me the best dvd blu-ray player.
wow i have owned 1,000 dollar vcr's and so called top of the line dvd players but this sony 550 blu-ray player is by far the best purchase i have ever made.it was easy to hook up and the on screen
it has worked with every blu-ray disc that i have played in it.
i ordered it as a replacement for a pioneer bdp-51fd that wouldn't play my one and only blu-ray disc.
i am not sure if it is the unit, the fact that i have not run updates to the firmware, if my hdmi-dvi cable is inferior, or that my tv is a 720p and the blu-ray sells its ability to output 1080p.
this panasonic blu ray player is easy to use and the movies look amazing on our new panasonic flat screen tv....it is much easier to use than our old dvd player...my hucband was able to hook it up
the biggest issue i have is that for some unknown reason, my dvd player doesn't have the resume function when it plays certain dvd & blu-ray movies.
the quality of watching a dvd in blu-ray is only, you have to see it for yourself.
i received this blu-ray player for christmas...so i've had it a little over a month.
only gave it a 4 because i have yet to have a chance to play a blu-ray movie in it but everything else is "as advertised".
i had gotten a bluray play, but i took it back a day later and upgraded to this unit, because it has all the features that i want.
its a well made blu-ray player please read the specifications ...i have it in my man cave 148" screen with a full 7.1 set up ( klipsch ) rf-7 rsw-15 sub rc-7 center rs-7s set of 2 rear ext ..

even when it does, purists will notice a slightly softer image when compared to blu-ray.

this is a high quality product that does a great job with blu-ray as well as regular dvd video.
my only big complaint is that it won't play a dvd+rw disc unless it's been finalized, and we like to record to disc on another unit and play it back on our home theater system where the blu-ray
first, as a blu-ray player it's very good - some may complain that the boot-up time is a little long, but from what i've read about br players they all generally take a little longer than dvd players
this product plays blu-ray discs fairly fast, and upscales dvds nicely.

samsung bd-p1500 1080p blu-ray player if you don't mind a 40-45 second delay for this player to make an anynet connection to your samsung tv, it's a product that offers a good value for the cost.

the only thing she has found wrong is she was watching a blu ray dvd and it worked fine.

it is a terrific dvd and blu-ray player with all of the specs you could want including profile 2.0 (bd-live) at a reasonable price on amazon.
just the opposite i recently experienced with a sony blu-ray product.
blu-ray load times seem to be 15-20 seconds and seems to vary by disk, so that it not nearly as bad as i feared.
the netflix streaming is worth the price of entry, not to mention it being an awesome blu-ray player to boot.
i haven't even used a bluray disc in it yet.

already have a ps3 slim, which you probably know plays blu-ray discs in addition to being a gaming console.
literally, after opening the package, putting it next to the tv, plugging in the hdmi to my tv and the power cord to the surge protector, it took all of 3 minutes for my 3 year-old to start watching
blu ray discs load quickly; remote is easy to use with the player.
the setup was quick and easy, i was able to watch blu ray movies in no time...it even played sd dvd movies better than my panasonic s77.
i purchased the sony blu-ray bdp-s560 to replace a broken cd player and a ten-year old dvd player as well as to upgrade to blu-ray and the ability to play sacds.

haven't tried netflix but i think i'm going to sign up to give it a whirl.the picture quality is great and haven't had any issues with dvd's and blu rays not playing.
