Video Output System
This is a key component to consider when you are looking for the right player. Besides being divided into 6 regions, the world uses two primary formats for video output: PAL and NTSC. If your DVD player supports both, you won't have any trouble playing DVDs from anywhere in the world.
Other File Formats
If you're going to be buying a region-free DVD player, you might as well make sure that it will play the other
disk and file formats you might want to use. If you like to burn your
own videos to DVD or CD, make sure that the unit accepts DVD-R/DVD-RW and
CD-R/CD-RW formats as well as DivX, MPEG, WMV and WMA formats, or at
least the ones you use most often. Once you have considered all of these options and found the player to meet your needs, you can travel the world and watch DVDs wherever you go.
