I've read so many reviews about the F-727. As it is with most high tech equipment, there are seemingly bad experiences and there are good. from Nextag.com I LOVE this product. I had never known that this type of product was available. The Pioneer hasn't been upgraded in seven years but is still the best one made. (Can you imagine an electronic product that still is viable after seven years?) After seven years of watching (on average) four to five movies a month, I've had NO player-related problems with this unit (I did have what turned out to be a connection problem with my set up). You'll read a lot of comments about the limited title entry space, which is true, but I keep may DVD library information on my computer so this is only a slight inconvenience to me. from Amazon.com I've owned the Pioneer DV-F727 for at least 6 years and have been VERY pleased. I still remember the first Universal movie we fired up. from Amazon.com I bought this unit and set it up with component video cables, most movies play well although some movies with dim scenes are blacked out losing many details. Adjusting the gamma, brightness, and other settings did not help. I contacted Pioneer email support I was referred to their M-F 8-5 phone support, called the tech and he stated 'it's broke, send it back' with the perceived intent of finishing the call as soon as possible. I called back and got the same tech who seemed put out that I called back and putting me on hold for a few minutes the stated 'it's broke' again and wouldn't diagnose further. from Amazon.com I purchased both the Sony DVPCX995V and the Pioneer and compared them side by side. I took the Sony back and kept the Pionneer. from Amazon.com I all ready have 3 other Sony products operating from one remote. There were no other command controls to add a 4th Sony DVD changer,so I picked this Pioneer disc changer. from Amazon.com
