Pros: DTS sound, progressive scan

Cons: Sony reps only want to offer a repair location. No remorse for dvd loss.

from Shopping.com I just bought my 2nd one; and I have 2 Kenwood megachangers. The Kenwood has a slightly better picture but appalling user-interface. The Sony's is good although I wish that I could enter a second line of descriptive information, and the 16 characters permitted are not enough even with cryptic abbreviations. from Crutchfield.com This is my third generation Multi-DVD unit I have purchased from Sony. I have the 200 and 300 disc players and those have performed as expected. from Crutchfield.com This changer, like my CD-only Mega Changer had to be exchanged due to defects. (It's a Sony!) The Pros for this machine are the fact that it makes storing and accessing your library of discs easy, the audio and video performance are just as I would expect of a mid upper-end unit and the appearance of the unit is quite pleasing. I like that the front panel display can be turned off (although the indicator LED's themselves will stay on, regardless of display setting). from Crutchfield.com Hooked it up to my AV receiver and thought that the Sony software was a pain. Pros: Quality Image & Sound

Cons: Loses power often

While I like the functionality of the changer, the fact that it loses power without warning is disturbing. We are using one as a playback device for a local cable station and the unstability of this device is cause for alarm. Also, we are having trouble getting word from Sony, period.

from Yahoo.com There seems to be too little separation between disks, so a spinning disk will scratch the diks next to it. I have ruined quite a few disks before the problem became apparent. Now I only use every other slot, so for all purposes I really have a 200 disk changer (and a bunch of ruined disks, thanks Sony). However great the playback capabilities are of this machine, it is no good if it scratches and destroys your disks. from Amazon.com Great idea, poor follow through, no support. After loading over 350 DVD's, only 20 or so lables/titles were actually read by the player. Calling Sony resulted in "the player can't load the title to some DVD's." A more accurate response would be "the player can load the title of a few DVD's." Sony was very non-responsive and definitely had a care less attitude. Had we known this before purchasing the machine, we would not have wasted the money. from Amazon.com I bought this unit at least four years ago (when it had a black case). I'm happy with it -- it never fails to play a selected DVD or CD, and the picture/sound quality is very good. Thr only drawback is Sony's "filing" system. It stinks. from Amazon.com 2. Use PC control (this is what I do, although I am slowly building the collection with method 1 too). I use a program called DVDLobby to manage the collection on the 777... This is actually the reason why I chose the 777 over one of the lower-priced alternatives - PC control! from Amazon.com
