Unfortunately, that was not the case. It continued to auto cycle - tray in, tray out etc. I returned the dvd player to Target - they were no help (expired guarantee), but gave me Memorex telephone number. I called Memorex in Florida - their customer no-service informed me it would be $98 to repair plus shipping and handling for a $45 machine. from Amazon.com Very disappointed. Memorex claims that this DVD player will play DVDs, VCDs, Kodak Picture CDs, and music CDs, but all it will play for me are pre-recorded DVDs. It does that very well, and has lots of remote control features for the price, but it won't play my pre-recorded CDs; it won't play any VCD I've ever tried; and it won't play any home-burned DVDs or Picture CDs made on either a Dell or an HP computer. from Amazon.com Pros: It works as advertised, I guess...
