I bought this portable DVD player on January 2008. 7 months later just stop working.. from Target.com I LOVE the big screen the battery life is excellent! comes with all of the cords needed. My 4.5 year old son works it all by himself, he even watched movies on it while we are at home as we have 1 dvd player in the house besides the portable. I don't regret the purchase at all! from Target.com I, too had the same problem of the disc not being read., that it continues to say OPEN., then the screen goes blank... Called MEMOREX., they advised , "Try moving the AV switch back and forth" Sure enough., my dvd player now works. Hopefully this will fix anyone elses problem! from Target.com I purchased this on 2/9 and we only used it a few times. On May 30 I discovered that it simply no longer works. I have written to Memorex as the 90 day warrenty expired on May 9! I am waiting to hear back. from Target.com Both have had the same problem - the unit shows the open icon in the upper left corner of the screen and it won't play DVDs. This is obviously a problem with manufacturing. [...] when the unit played, it was great - but it isn't worth the hassle until Memorex gets the problem fixed! from Target.com Bought this DVD player Jun 2007. Less than 6 months later (and using it twice for two different car trips) and I'm getting a door open error message. Contacted Memorex customer support, product only has a 90 day warranty. Cost to get it fixed is more than to purchase a new one! from Target.com * it has a remote but the remote doesn't control the volume, * many of features are only available with the remote, * the thing is big, and hard to find a case for, * the battery is supposed to last long but there is no meter or indicator on it so you never know how much time is left. The battery in the first unit I brought home wouldn't hold a charge. I called Memorex and they said to return it. I returned it and brought another one home. from Target.com I did a lot of research and finally decided that portable dvd players were very prone to kicking the bucket in a short period of time! It was obvious that a service contract was a MUST! from Target.com I spent the last week buying and returning many different models of portable DVD players. This memorex has it all-long lasting battery, 16X9 and 4X3 screen sizes, remote control, large viewing screen, great picture, good sound, and a great interface for changing settings. from Target.com I've been having this portable dvd for about a year and have not had any problems with it. It has great sound without the headphones and the pictures is so clear. from Target.com
