Bought it so my wife and i can watch movies in bed. The almost $60 JWin won't play most DVDs - it says loading and doesn't play or it just opens back up to give back the DVD- but the $34 memorex DVD player in the family room will...trying to return it, definitely not worth the price from Buy.com I have it hooked to a 48' 1080p LCD via HDMI and the upconversion looks pretty good. I haven't seen other upconversion players so I don't have a baseline but if all you want is a cheap player that looks decent for an HD player this is it from Amazon.com It would stop in the middle of movie, freeze, skip.
