When my "old" DVD player refused to play anything - pre-recorded DVD's, homemade DVDs, etc., it made sense to get a dual deck as it would upgrade my VCR as well. I'm thrilled!

I love this machine. Sure, it doesn't have a tuner in it, but that is obvious from the product description. The up-conversion feature works great, and DVD's look wonderful on a hi-def TV via the HDMI output. The Divx (Xvid) playback featrue also works great.

Setting up the HDMI connection (without audio!) was more trouble than it should have been. Upconvert freezes but not frequently. I've seen upconvert DVD-only models for less than 1/2 the price. Not totally disappointed, it works.

would not recommend any Samsung product as had to have this unit repaired twice - not worth the hassle

Pros: Great picture and sound on the DVD. The VHS is a nice option to have available when the kids dust off their old videos and having it in one unit is nice.
from Newegg.com
Pros: Good picture while it lasted. Cons: DVD player stoped reading after about 30 uses. Other Thoughts: this is just another 30$ dvd player.

The unit I purchased had problems with the audio fading in an out with DVD player which was both distracting and annoying. The picture for the DVD was nonetheless excellent.

I bought this for my parents. They had bought a Memorex but the VCR was bad on it. Looked around a long time and decided to go with this one over the Sony because of the HDMI connector.

Bought only for playing DVD's and VHS tapes. Does not have a tuner but if your into renting or just watching prerecorded tapes this is the unit for you.

Pros: This DVD-VCR combo player works incredibly well. It plays some of my scratched DVDs that my other DVD players would not play.
