I just wanted a device to play my Region 2 DVDs and the TOSHIBA SD-590KA does it plain and simple. from Amazon.com I was really leary about buying this dvd player, first of all I had never heard of them and secondly I didn't actually know how it would work. Well, I had bought 2 dvd movies from this site and did not pay attention to the fact that they were in PAL format, what the hell was that, went to put the movie in my dvd player and it stated that "will not play in this region", so I had to find out what that meant, so I called the people that I purchased the movie from (DAVEE) and they explained it to me. from Amazon.com Ordered this product in order to view a UK comedy series not shipped to the US. Having read other reviews I was quite skeptical, but wanted to try it. from Amazon.com The first review of this DVD player was spot on- but if you know nothing about technical things then rest assured- all you have to is hook it up, drop in the DVD and hit play. I went through and tested my various region DVD's and there was nothing different going from one region to the next- same loading time, same picture quality, same sound ect. from Amazon.com This was one of the best investments I've ever made because I like to order many Japanese concert DVDs.
