I put off buying this game for a while, and I'm sorry that I did. It's a great puzzle game! What's most interesting to me is that often I will solve one of the levels without quite knowing how I actually did it. It's as though there's some kind of subconscious creativity going on in my brain that this game taps into.
This is one of the most unique puzzle games that I have encountered for the DS. The puzzles involve setting up prisms, light beam splitters, color filters, mirrors (which are double sided), and "cycloids" (which behave somewhat like color light valves) to direct beams of white and color light (from the "Bulboids") to the multi color "Glowbo" creatures, which must be illuminated with their own light color to be happy.
The box cover for Prism makes it seem too much for kids but it is actually a fun brain teaser for any age. You have to line up mirrors, light beam splitters and colored filters to direct a ray of light at a colored target set in a maze.
I am quite disappointed in this game. It is the same thing over and over. It does get more difficult but it is the exact thing.
I got through half the puzzles before I got stumped. There are 100 to chose from, so there are plenty to play.
I was originally introduced to Aargon on my palm. This seemed like an alternative for the DS for my kids. And it is a reasonable facsimile.
Prizm is a great little find for those of you who enjoy a puzzle game. Prizm features simple mechanics with a load of great content. There are tons of puzzles for the player to work through, and you'll definitely be finding yourself spending a lot of time on the last set of puzzles toward the end. I originally bought it on sale for $9.99, but I'd still say it's worth the full retail price.
