DS Games for Kids
Video games can contain some pretty controversial content that may not be appropriate for younger children. If you've recently purchased your child a Nintendo DS and want to find the best age-appropriate games, take a look at the following product details for a clue to what's cool.
ESRB Rating
First check the ESRB rating, which tells you who the game is appropriate for. E (for Everyone) is generally the safest route to go, as it won't contain more than mild cartoon violence and the like.
ESRB Descriptor
The ESRB descriptor includes details about the game, and an explanation of why it received its rating. In brief bullets, it will let you know what sort of violence (if any) is in the game and the nature of the violence, whether there is strong language, and whether there is any sexual content.
Genre
An easy way to pick out new games for your child is to find out what type of game your child already enjoys. Take a look a look at what genres appear most in your child's collection, such as action, strategy or puzzle, then shop accordingly.
