i got this hard drive enclosure to use for cloning my laptop hard drive which took a couple of tries before it worked but i am sure that was due to the software i used (or maybe the operator) instead from Amazon.com pros: aluminum enclosure, price, performance cons: some quirky gluing, power hookup cable can break if not careful the bottom line: great enclosure for the money ($20). from Shopping.com the aluminum keeps heat and noise to minimum, fast read/write speeds in all os. from Shopping.com i also have (and recommend) an irocks 2.5in hdd enclosure blk usb 2.0 aluminum illuminated external enclosure. from Amazon.com this one works perfectly in high speed usb, but requires two usb cables to provide enough power for my ex-laptop hard drive. from Amazon.com All USB 2.0 High Speed 2.5" External Enclosures are not created equal. It looks well made, comes with a readable manual and installation was very easy. from Amazon.com I had an older drive fail to recover after a restore attempt and had a few files that I wanted to recover that hadn't been backed up yet. This enclosure was cheap so I thought I'd give it a shot. from Amazon.com This is the third Mad Dog product I have bought, there stuff works great, installs easy and holds up well! I have tried other makes but if it's something that Mad Dog makes, buying a similar product from another manufacturer is just mad!!! from Amazon.com
