Pros: quick set up, no problems with my disks, can set up multiple volumes, runs cool, looks nice, decent speed, can pretty much just rely on it being a safe, stable, storage solution that you dont have to F with to get to work. Cons: well, occasionally, it doesnt seem to want to mount the drives. from Newegg.com Pros: I didn't know too-too much about the JBOD/RAID thing happening with the Drobo box but I knew that if I filled it with two or more drives I'd be happy. My only complaint is that the Drobo -- over USB 2.0 -- isn't quite as fast as my externals (MyBook 1TB, Free Agent Pro 1.5TB). from Newegg.com Pros: Drobo is very cool. I have 4 Seagate 1.5 TB hard drives and have my Drobo set for 16 TB using firewire 800 (USB 2.0 too slow). from Newegg.com Pros: It survived a hard disk problem (par for the course), replication (or re-layout as they call it) was fairly quick since it realized only 50% of the 1.5 TB was used. Popped in two replacement smaller drives I had lying around for the damaged 1.5TB and it replicated onto these instead of waiting for a new drive and having no redundancy until that is there. Relatively silent. from Newegg.com Expandability is great. Cons: Slow transfer speeds. Time Machine initial backup (granted it was over1.5TB) froze and had to be aborted. Switching out two 1TB drives for 2TB drives gave me another 1.2TB but it took 67hours per drive to switch them, during which it shining red and might lose data if the power goes off. from Newegg.com
